Drama
At Sacred Heart, we know that drama brings out the best in all of our pupils and the subject is held in high esteem by our children. When linked to the curriculum, it can also enrich the learning and understanding in many subject areas such as: History, Literacy and PSHE.
We encourage children to value their voice; we want them to be heard, not only in drama and assemblies but through their opinions, in making their personal contribution and learning to become confident in sharing ideas. Through drama, we want our children to be confident public speakers, ready and able to succeed in an increasingly competitive and demanding world. Drama helps them to develop their own talents and to respect the talents in other children working together in a company of players.
Every Winter, the children enjoy a visit to The Grand Theatre, Blackpool to watch the pantomime. We have also enjoyed experiencing shows from visiting actors, including monologues from Spellbinder and a two man play all about WWI. The children take part in a variety of different drama activities each year in Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Our Junior children take part in one major production a year.
We have relished two decades of the most incredible performances from our children. They have made us laugh, made us cry, broken our hearts and every feeling in between! The pride that we feel for our children during our school productions is beyond compare. Here is a selection of shows that they have performed for our community:
