Admissions
A close partnership established between school and home, is extremely important in contributing towards the success of our school.
Parental involvement in school and liason with our whole community creates a warm, secure and happy family atmosphere. We believe that this is an essential element of our school and we cannot overstate the value we place on it.
At Sacred Heart School we operate an open door policy. Teachers are available before and after school to talk to parents. Parents can make an appointment to see the Headteacher or the Class teacher for a more serious concern.
We feel it is very important to embrace parents in all aspects of school life.
In year admissions
If you are applying for a school place for your child who is due to start in Reception, you are required to apply online using the Lancashire County Council website and linked Diocesan forms. Applications can be made between 1st September and mid January in the academic year before your child is 5.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to come and have a look around. We will arrange an appointment where a member of the management team will show you round and answer any questions you may have.
If you are interested in a place in another school year please contact the school office on 01253 821392 who will be able to advise on current numbers in year groups and the availability of places.
Please note: You cannot re-appeal for a place at a school within the same school year unless there has been relevant, significant and material change in the family circumstances.
Waiting Lists
A waiting list for places will be kept in accordance with the priorities in the published admission arrangements. Applications received after letters offering places have been issued will be kept on the waiting list and prioritised according to the admissions criteria. Late applications may therefore be slotted into the waiting list according to their individual priority within the admissions criteria.
If a place becomes available within the school’s published admissions number, the child whose name is at the top of the list will be offered a place. This is not dependent upon an appeal having been submitted for the child concerned.
The waiting list will be kept until the end of the autumn term in the academic year of admission.

Parent View gives you the chance to tell us what you think about your child’s school.
Parents Evening
These are held online twice per year. If any concerns arise during the year teachers will always contact parents.
Breakfast and after school club (BASC)
We provide extended care for children through our breakfast and after school club, managed by Mrs K Porter. Our breakfast club is £3.50 per child and after school club is £6.50 including snacks, it is open from 7.30am to 8.50am and after school club is 3.30pm-6pm.
